Description

Caniche is a charming 45’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 1987 by Colecraft. She was fitted out by the original owner, with scumbled panels, and traditional roses and castles throughout.
She has been very well looked after, with an insurance survey from April 2017 reporting no issues, and she benefits from blacking in summer 2022 as well.
The well deck is large at 6’5”, with bench seats either side and plenty of space for a folding table if required. The cratch cover was new in 2024, keeping the elements at bay.
Steps lead down through glazed stable doors into the 10’4” saloon. Here is an Arada Villager solid fuel stove, 18” Samsung TV, an L-shaped bench, which converts to a 6’2”x 3’10” double berth, with storage under, and a range of cupboards and shelves for additional storage too.
Next is the 4’11” galley, with a Thetford oven & grill, Thetford 4 burner hob, large sink, 240v LEC fridge, and more cupboards and shelves for storage.
The bathroom follows, and although compact at 3’8” this cleverly packs in all the essentials. There is a square shower tray with curtain across, ceramic wash basin, and a Thetford PortaPotti on a sliding base to move out the way as necessary.
Moving aft, the engine room is next, housing the Lister Petter engine. This was last serviced in Summer 2024, with plenty of spares onboard, and was fully reconditioned in 2020. Side hatches on both sides, and a pigeon box over, bring in additional light and fresh air.
A boatmans cabin follows (6’5”) with a single berth, a Classic solid fuel stove, and more storage. Steps lead out on the trad stern deck.
She is centrally heated by an Alde gas boiler connected to fin rads, which provides plenty of hot water too.
12v power is via 3x domestics and 1x starter, and 240v power is via a Sunshine 2kw inverter or landline hookup. A Victron Blue Smart Charger is fitted, along with a galvanic isolator.
Lighting onboard is LED throughout.
Caniche is french for ‘poodle’ and is perfect for weekends spent leisurely drifting along the canal.
