Tilly 2 is a 57’ traditional stern narrowboat with a Lister JP2 built in 2008 by Johnathan Wilson & fitted out by the original owner. She is fitted out in oak and is full of personality and charm.
The layout is unusual but it works; the good size well deck has a cratch cover over, the stainless steel water tank is under, and there is a large table which folds down from the glazed cratch board. Steps lead down into the 10’10” saloon which hosts a large sofa, a Morso Squirrel solid fuel stove, storage cupboards and shelves. There is also a TV aerial point in here.
The galley follows; it is compact at 5’ long, but offers all the necessary utilites; an eye level oven & grill, a microwave, a 4 burner gas hob and a sink. There is a 12v fridge / freezer and a full size washing/drying machine. There is also plenty of storage and work surface. A Houdini hatch over adds light and air.
Moving aft, you pass, opposite a side hatch with exit steps, a large airing cupboard (with the Kabola boiler under) and a wardrobe. Then follows the double bed. This is actually a dinette conversion; there is currently no table as the current owner left it made up as a bed, but very easy to re-instate as a dinette also.
The portside corridor leads to the bathroom. This has a sliding door behind which sits a pumpout vacuum flush loo, ceramic counter sunk sink, heated towel rail, and a large tiled shower cubicle with glass bi-fold doors. The calorifier sits under some linen shelves next to the shower.
The engine room is next, housing the magnificant 1940’s Lister JP2 engine. This has been well maintained and sounds beautiful. The 3.5kw diesel generator is also in here as well as the large bank of batteries. 2 side hatches add light and air.
The back cabin is last. This has a couple of storage cupboards in, and the couch converts into a cross bed (spare bouble 6’3”x4’).
On board 230v is supplied by either the 2.5kw Sterling inverter, the 3.5kw generator or landline hook up. Lighting is all LED, and she is centrally heated by a Kabola diesel fired boiler. This heats the water, as does either the engine or an immersion heater.
She has 355w of solar panels and a galvanic isolator. She was last blacked in May 2019, and had a full survey in 2017.
A lovely boat, full of charm and ready to go.
